Homemade Laundry Soap

Well here I sit months after that first post. I have thought often about why bother putting my time into writing and posting pictures? Who will read what I write? Why will it matter?  I am not a great writer and I can not spell to save my life.

What has got me thinking is that one person that may need to hear what I have to say, may learn from what I am doing, and maybe just turn their lives completely around based on what they have read...That is why I am committing to sharing, committed to being open, committed to the time it takes to share what I have to say.

In present day America, we are lacking real woman leaders. Ones that share the journey of life from a biblical point of view. The highlights as well as the trials.

Let's start out with me being clear. I will not write to please anyone but God. I hope to glorify him in my journey. I believe that in most cases a woman should be at home tending her children, keeping the home, and available to serve her husband.

I am not the best at this, but it IS my purpose.

I am kicking off this blog with talking about my homemade laundry soap. I know, I know there are so many posts already in the blog world about this topic. It just so happens to be what I am working on today. If you want to follow me there will be some posts about mundane tasks.  But think about it, isn't most of what we do in a day mundane? Therefore, I may shed new light on the mundane for you.

I have very sensitive skin so making my own laundry soap helps a lot. It is also very frugal which I am all about.  Not because we have a shortage of money at the moment, but much more for the fact that we don't spend more than we need to. That is a waste, a big one.

Also this week I will be working on finishing some machine quilting on a small wall hanging. I will be doing my monthly menu plan and grocery list. Next week I will be making bedding for an American Girl doll bunk bed for a birthday gift for a very special friend of my daughters. Happy reading and I hope you can enjoy my ramblings.

On to the Laundry Soap!

I have been making laundry soap since about 2007.  When I first did an internet search I found this recipe. It is the one I still use today. I do sometimes in the summer when our clothes are dirtier, go heavier on the borax and washing soda.

So easy my daughter can do it!
Here are some photos of the process~

All Done

And this is where it sits-ready to be used.

The beginning of my blog journey

As I create this very first blog post I have dreams of it motivating others in their country life.  I come from a suburb upbringing with a longing for the country ever since I read my first Little House on the Prairie novel.

I have been living in the county for years now and I have no desire to ever give it up.  Shopping can be difficult, modern resources can be hard to find, and cell phone service is spotty at best. Regardless, I wake up loving this life and what it has to bring.

I am a homeschooling mother of three children under the age 11 and there is a lot going on in the house, but a lot of purposeful peace as well.

I plan to share my adventures in faith, photography, sewing, quilting, cooking, homesteading, nutrition, homemaking, frugal living, and plenty more.
